In a time when New York may well have been at its most dangerous, or at least most volatile, John Carpenter came through with a nihilist vision of the city. The weirdest part, however, is we never get to see him to anything of value. It's safe to say I wasn't impressed with this film.
John Carpenter is a director, script writer and music scorer of the highest calibre and is responsible for some of the greatest films ever to grace the silver screen and the small screen. It is similar to what can be found in Arrow Films boxsets.
Escape From New York fires on every cylinder. And most of all, I just didn't care for any of the characters or the story they were in.

It's just a near future movie as so many others from that era. This is a great action/adventure film from the 80's, sadly the Blu Ray release from Studio Canal is not. RT Comic-Con Ketchup
The transfer is probably the best I have seen but it lacks punch and is just okay. Excellent film.
