With that added itinerary, would you recommend splitting Naxos and Santorini and just doing a day trip to Mykonos or is Mykonos worth a 3 day trip. With Strogili you’re a little outside of Oia. There will still be open restaurants and hotels all year round in Fira.The great thing about winter in Santorini is that you should expect to pay far less for your accommodation as prices are considerably lower.The other benefit is also the fact that most areas will be really quiet with not that many people around.But the weather can be windy and cold (5 degrees Celsius for example) though it might be sunny!But that doesn’t mean you won’t find amazing hotels in those areas! It also has a swimming pool, ideal for children. Wondering what your thoughts are on Crete and if it is better to see than Mykonos or Naxos. Me and my husband and our 7 year old daughter are going in this trip. We are flying in from Los Angeles with a stopover in Rome so not sure if we should spend more time in Athens since we’ll be in a 16 hour flight prior to and not go to Naxos. In Santorini, there’s much more to see and do.
That said, the distance to town is short and I wouldn’t worry about that – good for everyone and beautiful views the whole way. The best places on Santorini for families: Fira, Oia, Firostefani, Imerovigli, Kamari, and Perissa. We were thinking of a few days in Santorini to relax. Kamari is more of a proper town, closer to the caldera, and has a great open-air cinema. It’s a nice walk from the hotel to the shops and restaurants but at one point you have to walk along a busy-ish road for 90 seconds. We are visiting Santorini this May but are in a bit of a pickle.
