I was shopping at my local Walmart over the weekend and as I was walking by the electronics section, I was approached by a Frontier Fios sales guy asking what service I had.
I get about 200 Mbps in my backyard about 150 ft away through walls and my pc plugged directly into the satellite about 50 ft away ranges from 400-450 Mbps. Which seems ridiculous to me since if I want to keep my internet service with them I have to pay $10 a month for something I don't want.I'm considering filing an FTC complaint, but if it really is part of the package I don't think I have much of a case. They said they could see that the router was taken off my account, so they put a $10 credit on my account to reverse that charge. When my next bill came a month later (a few days ago), I saw that I was charged $10 for the router again, so I called Frontier and they said that the router rental cannot be taken off the account. Whether it's FiOS or high-speed internet, get the top-of-the-line Frontier Internet equipment. All of a sudden a router charge shows up on my current bill.
""That information is correct.
This is false advertisement.Thank you.
I see the "We not able to troubleshoot" as part of the sales pitch. I called again and asked to be transferred to retention, and this time retention said there was nothing they could do. I'm not sure which router I currently have but this is a picture of it: TL;DR: suggestions on mesh hardware to replace or supplement my current router that would support speeds up to 500MbpsThe will wave the fee. I then talked to the retention person and they said they would take $10 off my future bills (but not the current one for some reason). I called, spoke to supervisor - nothing that they can do. I had chat transcripts showing that the customer service person making the claim that they would remove the fee if I had my own router - Frontier said that was misinformation from their customer service rep and they would give me the credit. I wanted to talk to the supervisor and after 30 minutes on hold was told that the supervisor will call me back in 48 hours.I had nothing but terrible customer support experience with this company. They have really good deals on 500/500, try to get someone in the retention department and give them a comparison from AT&T like the other person mentioned, even if you can’t actually get AT&T in your area.As for the router, ask Frontier to replace your gateway with an NVG468MQ. All our customers must lease or purchase a router from Frontier. I said I don’t want it. Unfortunately, Frontier has a monopoly in my area and is the only ISP that offers anything over 100 Mbps that doesn't cost an arm and leg. I haven't had any issues in the 6 months I've been using it. I have a Velop Mesh network for coverage throughout my ranch-style, single story 2500 sq foot home. But now with 2 adults working from home full time, and 2 kids home all summer, I need more bandwidth. Even spoke to customer service supervisor.
I made my complaint to FTC, public utilities commission AND BBB.What this comes down to is that the actual price for the service is not what is advertised, but +$10. He made comments in his report that I did not accept the router, but I am still receiving $10 monthly bills.I've tried 4 different times now to get this wifi router charge off my bill, but they keep saying what everyone else has mentioned: you have to pay for it.I feel like this is fraudulent practices, because I am being charged a rental fee for an item that I do not have possession of.If you live in Oregon, please file a complaint with the Public Utility Commission and Attorney General. They're not going to stop as long as people only complain to each other while the local ISP monopolies trade disgruntled customers every 18 months. Also BBB. This was better than most calls I had made that neglected to service me. the reason you have that upgrade is because you're going from a coax which flexes a lot which isn't a premium speed to have coax to a premium speed which uses Ethernet from the ont to your router I had this upgrading it was pretty fast they just do a few wiring but I upgrade to the two hundred megabit per second if you can because you don't have to get an upgrade for that but if you're getting a mesh system I probably go with a higher-end brand maybe like Google mesh because Google internet is really good Fair Wi-Fii have fiber optic...i know this because when i had some plumbing work done last year, the line was cut...and they had to lay a new line.I currently have 500 up/down and I'm considering upgrading to a gig in the near future. I guess I'll try again later.More people should file complaints with the FTC and their state's public utilities commissions. Again I confirmed that the $10 was going to come off.The label and box finally arrived. And he said yes.
