As it’s fairly remote, not too many people venture out here.We would have happily spent a few hours in Pyrgaki, if it wasn’t for the strong north wind when we arrived.

As I wasn’t the driver, I had them all to myself!This is a long, natural bay with grey-beige sand. It is more sheltered from the winds, and has nice golden sand and shallow, crystal-clear water, which makes it ideal for families. There are quite a few hotels and self-catering properties in the area, as well as a few tavernas.Kalados (known also as Kalantos or Kalandos) is one of the most remote Naxos beaches.
There is a range of hotels and rooms. Even closer, you can find the lively but less famous village of Vivlos with its characteristic windmills.This is another great beach, south of Plaka.
