I haven't read a series themed around clocks and horology, so this was new for me, and I'm actually fascinated by the subject now.

Every characters have related to Ruth. Ruth Clagan inherits her grandfathers clock shop, the Cog and Sprocket, after he is murdered during a break-in at the shop. And even so, the setting remained the real star – the book opens literally right across the street from where I worked in high school, and not only remains in familiar territory throughout, but delves well into the sordid and relatively unknown history of Tobytown (a black community now twice displaced in the name of greed and racism).I gave this book two stars because I think ? I'm so glad it did. the main character, Ruth Clagan, did not searching the truth about her grandfather has died by searching information around the small town. It quickly developed into a clear picture in my mind - a small town with charms I could understand, shops I would like to visit, scenery I would love to see, and people I would enjoy meeting. Ok, I get it, it's a bummer. I really liked the town and the characters. While I love cozy mysteries, I am not a huge fan of the very fluffy ones based around very unlikely hooks.
